The decision to issue a preventive public health order in the region, which falls under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Public Health and Public Safety, has offset the rising coronavirus case numbers and hospitalizations, Sonoma County officials said in a news release late Thursday afternoon. Sonomas County announced that it has joined San Francisco, Marin, Napa, Mendocino, Santa Cruz, San Mateo and Marin counties in adopting the "stay at home" public health orders, which will take effect at the end of each day through Friday. The Sonomas County order comes a day after Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a nationwide ban on the use of intensive care beds in hospitals and nursing homes in all regions of the state, where bed availability has dropped to 15 percent.

The state's home-stay orders have already been implemented in San Francisco, Marin, Napa, Mendocino, Santa Cruz, San Mateo and Marin counties, and Marin County. The home stay orders will be in effect through Friday, according to a news release from the Sonoma County Department of Public Safety. On the outside of the building there is a mural depicting the shops and restaurants that were in the early 20th century, when this section of the street was still that way. I remember a soft-serve ice cream bag that seemed to be a mile high and ended in a tiny somersault. When George Foster opened his first store in 1946, the soft drink menu was the entire menu, followed by burgers and chips. When I first visited his restaurant, there was a shop and a restaurant, and there were a few other restaurants and shops along Avenida San Pablo, as well as a small grocery store.

Cases in Sonoma County have doubled in recent days, averaging nearly 25 cases per 100,000 residents, Mase said. Susan Gorin, Sonoma County supervisory board chairwoman, said precious moments with loved ones are missed, businesses get into trouble and many residents lose their essential income. But the gently rolling hills and mesmerizing sunsets have charmed visitors for more than a half-century, including tourists from as far away as New York City and Los Angeles. The new restrictions will remain in effect for at least the next two weeks, according to the California Department of Health.
